The Woods Avenue Animal Clinic Staff

Dr. Gower has been licensed since 1983 in the veterinary field. After having worked at his clinic in Brooklyn for the past 20 years, he is pleased to return to Oceanside, the town where he graduated from high school, and open the Woods Avenue Animal Clinic. Dr. Gower is actively involved in continuing education on local, national web conferences and maintains deep professional commitment to ongoing research and education of small animal diseases.  He and his wife, Valerie, love spending time with their six children who are an enormous part of their lives and an ongoing source of joy!

Jon has been an employee at the Woods Avenue Animal Clinic for ten years. He attended Nassau Community College and now works part time at North Shore LIJ.  He is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the clinic and is very handy. When he is not at the clinic, he enjoys exercising and playing with his cat Gino.

We are proud to announce that Rob is well into his second year as a Cornell Veterinary Student and although the work load is intense and demanding he is in his element and loving it. Throughout his life, Rob has always had plenty of pets growing up and treats every animal with the care and compassion he would his own.  He really enjoys working with Dr. Gower and the staff at the clinic and is always willing to lend a helping hand.
Erin came to the clinic for a part time summer job and has become a valuable member of the team. Erin enjoys swimming and is a certified lifeguard. Erin is attending SUNY at Buffalo and remains at the clinic on limited basis on vacation and breaks from school. Erin is studying Biomedical Sciences and we look forward to having her assist whenever possible.

Vianna started working at Woods Avenue Animal Clinic this summer and had no idea it would have such a great impact in her life. She currently attends Hunter College, studying Medical Laboratory Sciences & Psychology hoping to attend Medical School for ER. When she’s not working at the clinic or studying at school, she spends most of her time with her pets, Candy and Cookie.

Nyeesha Garnett is currently in the process of getting her Bachelor degree in Biology at Adelphi University. Growing up in Roosevelt, NY, she has always been exposed to pets which helped her develop her strong love and dedication for animals. The love she has for her two dogs Skittles (Chihuahua) and Chaz (Shih Tzu) has also contributed to her driving force to work with animals. In the near future, she plans to continue her education to become a Veterinarian.

German grew up with many cats and dogs when he lived in Ecuador. He is a great help to Dr.Gower and greats every patient with a treat. When he's not working at the clinic he is spending time with Luna, his dog and loves to play soccer. German's wife is working towards her doctorate degree and presently interning in Africa.

Julia  has been running the front desk for the past eight months and knows how to make all of our clients feel welcome. After many years of having Dr.Gower take care of her two yorkies, Ruby and Tiara, she has decided to join our team.

Regina works part time at Woods Avenue Animal Clinic while pursuing an acting career. She is a standardized patient for NSLIJ & Winthrop Hospital. Animals have been a part of Regina's life since she was 5 years old and continue to warm her life with their innocence, unique personalities, trust and love.
